Lapis’s P.O.V.

I was beside (Y/n) by the kitchen counter, watching as he began peeling and chopping the freshly picked apples. The way he sliced was so professional and quick and it amazed me to see that he could cut so fast without cutting himself, unlike me who had never really used a knife or cooked. This kind of stuff was something Pearl enjoyed doing. I merely looked at my knife before attempting to copy (Y/n) as he gestured for me to give chopping a try. My own reflection appeared in the knife before I positioned an apple on the cutting board.

Lapis: Your really good at this.

(Y/n): I used to be a baker but I sold it years ago and the profit was more than I expected. I guess I had made a name for myself in the little time I had my shop and was able to go into a very early retirement.

I continued to cut as (Y/n) shared this information with me. I had been engrossed into making my cuts as even as (Y/n) that when I looked back at him, he was already using a rolling pin to start on the dough. I guess being a baker means you have to work fast. It doesn’t seem like I’m even on his level of speed. He was done with two slabs of dough that was very gooey so he put it into the refrigerator to “chill”. While the dough chilled, he took out a very large pot and directed me to start dumping apples into it while he added butter, lemon juice, sugar and lots of other ingredients that smelled really nice. He was making the pie filling and he watched it carefully as it simmered in the pot, stirring every so often as to not burn it.

When the filling was done, he strained it and took over the left over juices to caramelize it. He went over to place the filling in the refrigerator as well, taking out the dough to start building a pie crust. He made it look nice and even. He measured it well before place it on a baking sheet. He went back for the filling and start filling the unbaked pie crust in two pie pans before popping it into the oven.

Lapis: So what now?

(Y/n): Now we wait.

He said calmly before going over to the oven to set a timer before walking back to his place at the table and sitting down. Meanwhile, I sat in front of the oven enjoying the warmth that radiated from it as I watched the pie slowly rise inside. After a moment, I knew (Y/n) had fallen asleep when I heard his breathing become slow and even. He had taken his glasses off, placing them on the kitchen table. I couldn’t help but think of how peaceful he looks. Sure, he may have come off as a grumpy person but I knew that wasn’t the case. The longer I looked at him, the more I wondered what he could be dreaming about. Can he even dream? As a gem, we don’t really need to sleep and I’ve never tried it so I really don’t know if I can have dreams either. I thought that it wouldn’t hurt to try and experiment. Now was as good a time as any.

Walking over to a chair opposite of (Y/n). I sat down and sat motionlessly, trying to get into the mood of sleep. I didn’t really know what to do but I guess I just close my eyes and wait for something to happen. I did what I thought was the correct way to doze off as I closed my eyes and waited but nothing happened. With each passing second, I could feel my body relaxing and what was once myself staring into a black nothing, little jolts of light began to form but before anything was conclusive, my eyes flew open to the nerve-racking sound of the timer over the oven. As soon as it went off, (Y/n)’s eyes also flew open as he went over to turn it off. He stretched slightly before opening the oven to reveal two golden pies. They drowned the entire kitchen with their wonderful smell.

(Y/n) put them cool off by placing a sizeable fan in front them. After 10 minutes of waiting, he went over to a kitchen drawer and dub around for a fork before sitting back at the table and digging right into the pie in front of him.

(Y/n): All these years and the recipe still taste as delicious as ever.

He said proudly.

(Y/n): I don’t hear you eating.

He said suddenly as I looked at the pie in front of me.

Lapis’s: Gems don’t eat, well, at least I don’t.

(Y/n): Your still sticking with this gem story? Whatever, I guess. I’m sure there’s plenty of people around town who would pay a good penny for one of my pies.

Lapis: I know exactly who to give it to.

Time skip ( flying through the sky)……

Third Person P.O.V.

It was getting pretty late and although (Y/n) and Lapis just met, Lapis was enjoying the time she had with him. He was still a mystery, though Lapis guessed that most humans are. She was currently flying back to the barn but went ahead to Steven’s house to drop off the pie. “I’m sure he and Amethyst could share it”, she thought. She was hovering over the temple as I called out to Steven who came out of his house.

Steven: Hey Lapis, what brings you out this evening.

Lapis: I just wanted to drop off this pie.

Steven: Pie!!! Yes!!! Thanks Lapis.

Amethyst had then popped her head out of the door unexpectedly.

Amethyst: What’s that about food?

She said before she came out and immediately took the pie from Steven’s hand, unwrapping it from the plastic bag as it was neatly packed into a smooth white cardboard packaging like the kind that held cakes.

Amethyst: Woah, Lapis I didn’t know you could bake?

She said before going back inside.

Steven: Save me a piece.

Steven yelled at her before picking up the plastic bag off the porch and reading it.

Steven: (Y/n)’s Beachside Bakery?

Steven read aloud.

Steven: Why does that name sound familiar?

Steven questioned as he stared at the plastic bag. Looking back to meet Lapis, Steven saw that she had already gone and was nothing but a small moving dot in the distance.

Steven: Hmmmm….

Steven said to himself as he went inside and decided to hang onto the plastic bag.
